Takeover Tuesday is a weekly motivational program for you, the readers. Every Tuesday, you will be given simple tasks to be completed throughout the course of the week in order to inch closer to meeting your true potential by visualizing your ideal self, shaking hands with them, and then ruthlessly becoming that person.

These tasks are simple in order to cultivate SUCCESS and for you to get used to what success feels like so you can apply it in more places in your everyday life.

Last week we had quite the opportunity to taste victory. How did you do? Personally, using a slightly firmer handshake was just the thing needed to close a deal last week. Exciting! Tasting that small amount of success motivated me to want more!

This week’s challenges:

1. Hone your blinking skills

It’s important to begin to control every aspect of your body language when presenting yourself to the world. Every single movement can be held against you in the cutthroat world of business. Have you ever thought about how many times you blink? How long each blink is? Have a friend or family member videotape you as you give a 5 minute speech on the topic of your choice. Play it back. Did you feel like you blinked adequately? The goal is to use your blinks has punctuation to craft the image you want to present to the world. If you can’t achieve a no-blink delivery to gain the upper-hand in a negotiation, practice blinking when your opponent blinks so they’ll be none-the-wiser.

2. Craft a better signature

As we march into a world with computer, penmanship is a thing of the past, and that is perfectly OK. But a way to show your worth is through your signature. Your signature is your personal brand that tells the world “there is a reason why I am the one signing these checks.” A subtle, yet meaningful way to show your employees that you deserve that corner office.

3. For one day, take a limo to work

I often stress the importance of being able to see what your potential self could be. My hope is you have the kind of ambition in success where driving your own car would be a thing of the past. Live in that feeling for one day this week. Hire a driver and have them take you to work. Externally, do not show your glee. Internally, revel in it. Onlookers will see this self-assured business person and be so inspired by the image you are presenting that they will want to make their own dreams of having a limo driver at their disposal. In this way, you are paying it forward.

Now get to work, friends!
